Lovely Users [not]

Almost all of the email we receive is from absolutely lovely users who are very happy for our help, some is even just email praising Alfred or praising what we have done. Every so often, you have to support slightly difficult users. As you all know, I take great pride in Alfred and how I look after my users so when I get a difficult user, I almost certainly take things to heart.

I had to share this email from a free / unpaid user for you to see what I am sometimes faced with…. Name changed to Clark Kent to keep things anonymous.

From Clark Kent:

My apple mail would not send mail after I installed your application. Had to remove it so I could get on with my life. Took me all day to figure this out. I won’t be trying your service again.

From Alfred:

Hi Clark,

There is no way that this could be the case as Alfred does not get ‘installed’, he just sits in your Applications folder as per other high level applications. When running, he doesn’t change any configuration on your mac, he simply sits idle until you summon him.

Having said that, you can quit Alfred from the small hat in the top right menu bar. Once quit, you can simply remove Alfred from the Applications folder. This will remove him completely because, as I said, he doesn’t install any extra services or configuration.

You haven’t heard from anybody because they can’t send their e-mail.  I promise you I am not the only one with this problem. Your arrogance is what pissed me off.  I am a nice guy for sharing with you.  You are an asshole for dismissing my helpful note .  fuck you again for ruining my day.

Hi Clark,

I have absolutely no arrogance in this matter, I am sorry if you perceived it that way.

I did a little bit of investigation and notice you are using *.mail.mud.yahoo.com as a mail gateway. It looks like Yahoo Mail was suffering from a number of outages yesterday which may explain the issues you were having.
