It really is a very sad day, Steve Jobs passed away a few hours ago from pancreatic cancer. For me, he stands right up there with the greats, people who have made a big difference to the world and my life.
It it were not for Steve, I would not be sitting at my own desk, working for myself, doing what I love - Programming for Mac, striving for perfection.
There is one quote in particular which stands out to me from his 2005 Stanford commencement address, a quote which I need to remember every time I get stressed or don’t feel 100% about my situation:
Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.
I am going to continue to follow my heart and passion to make wonderful applications on the platform which Steve Jobs provided to us.
